The 151st Legislative District
The 151st Legislative District is situated in suburban Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and includes Montgomery Township, Horsham Township, part of Upper Dublin Township, and a portion of Lower Gwynedd Township.
It is home to approximated 64,000 residents and 4 top performing public school districts: North Penn School District, Hatboro-Horsham School District, the School District of Upper Dublin, and Wissahickon School District.
In addition to hundreds of small and family businesses, several large companies are located in the 151st, including Johnson & Johnson, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Toll Brothers, and BET Investments. The former Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove, now the Horsham Air Guard Station, is also located in the District.
Pennsylvania’s Constitution requires that “unless absolutely necessary no county, city, incorporated town, borough, township or ward shall be divided in forming either a senatorial or representative district.” As seen in the map, the 151st Legislative District does not meet this Constitutional requirement. While Montgomery and Horsham Townships are undivided, Upper Dublin Township is broken into three (3) Legislative Districts and Lower Gwynedd Township into two (2). This division is a clear example of gerrymandering and MUST be addressed by an independent redistricting commission.
